My grandson and I had a great time. We caught a few fish but they were not big enough to keep. The captain did his best to put us on fish but they just wasn’t biting. He even gave us extra time to try and get us more fish but it wasnt to be. We reminded ourselves that it’s called “fishing” and not “catching!”

I went on this fishing trip with my son and had an awesome experience with Captain Jason and his first mate Randy, who is also his dad. It made for a really cool father-son, father-son trip that we both really enjoyed. We booked the charter specifically to go after sharks. Even though we didn’t end up landing one, Captain Jason worked incredibly hard the entire trip moving us between multiple spots and trying different approaches to get us on fish. Sometimes the fish just aren’t cooperating, but you could clearly see the effort and dedication he put in to make sure we had every possible chance. Both Captain Jason and Randy were friendly, knowledgeable, and great to spend time with on the water. You can tell they genuinely care about giving people a good experience. It was a great father-son team and they made the trip fun and memorable for me and my son. I would absolutely book another charter with them again and look forward to coming back to try for those sharks another day. Highly recommend!

The captain was knowledgeable and personable, and the boat was well equipped for four anglers. We had great weather, but it was the captain who put us on the fish. We wouldn’t hesitate to charter with him again when we return to Cocoa Beach.

My wife, eight-year-old son, and I booked a three-hour guided trip with Jason, and it exceeded our expectations. His father joined us as well, and together they were outstanding guides—friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. My son had an absolute blast, catching 15 fish from five different species, while my wife and I each reeled in more than ten fish. Beyond the fishing, the experience was unforgettable. We watched a SpaceX booster rocket return, saw several dolphins swimming nearby, and even spotted a sea turtle. It was an incredible day on the water, and we highly recommend Jason to anyone planning a fishing trip to the Cape.

When I was searching for a “family-friendly” guide for my son’s first saltwater trip, I found ShayJay—and I’m so glad I did. Jason and his dad, Randy, made sure my son always had bait on his hook and stayed on the fish. He was excited to go offshore, but with the weather acting up, we had to switch to inshore. Jason didn’t miss a beat—once we got to calmer water, it was fish on right away. We’ll definitely be booking with ShayJay again later this year.

Jason and his father “the first mate” were awesome! My five year old and myself booked a fun inshore trip. We caught fish all day, had one keeper to take home for dinner! They were hooking fish and helping my 5 year old reel them in so he didn’t miss out on any of the action! I will definitely give them a call when I come back into town!!

Jason was great from start to finish. He kept both of my boys baited up and fishing all day, and had us on fish for most of the trip. The boat was comfortable, and the gear was just right for the species we were targeting. We caught over 40 fish—mangrove snapper, sheepshead, jack, flounder, black drum, and a few others—and kept about 15, which Jason cleaned for us at the dock. It was exactly the kind of experience I was hoping for with my boys, and we’ll absolutely book with Jason again next time we’re in the area.
